Clare Morrow Helps a Wish Come True

Carley and Tigger with friends who helped her Wish come true (May 2011).

Clare Morrow teamed up with the Make a Wish Foundation to help Carley get her Wish: a horse of her own. Although Carley began searching for the “perfect horse” on the websites dreamhorse.com, and equine.com for quite some time, she had no idea that the search for her horse would keep her occupied through 42 rounds of radiation and 14 rounds of chemotherapy. Carley began riding at the age of 7, and had experience as an Eventer. She desired a horse that would be suitable for Dressage and the occasional low jumps. Carley met Clare when she went to try out a horse that Clare had for sale at the time. Although the horse did not work out for Carley, she stayed in contact with Clare, and both remained determined to find Carley’s horse. Of course, there were occasions when Carley came close to settling in on a horse, but the search continued because Carley never felt 100% about a horse for various reasons.

Each time a horse failed to work out, there was a great deal of disappointment. Then, Clare found Trigger Happy (who Carley calls “Tigger”). Tigger is a palomino, Arab/Saddle bred cross that stands 15.3hh. He had experience showing in the Hunter Pleasure rail classes, and with his great mind and good gaits, Clare thought he would be a good match for Carley. When Carly went to try Tigger, she immediately liked him better than the other horses. Within two weeks, Clare and Make A Wish scrambled to get everything in place for a Wish Grant. It all went without a hitch, and Carley and Tigger are becoming best friends.

Clare was instrumental in helping this wish come true for Carley.  She worked tirelessly, and searched and searched, never losing hope. After realizing most of the money from the Make a Wish Foundation would go towards purchasing Tigger, Clare began working to find donations for everything else Carley and Tigger would need.  Cindy Murray with All About The Horse donated an entire grooming kit, along with new breeches!  Thanks to many kind individuals, Clare succeeded-in spades in rounding up everything!

Carley had no idea any of this was going on after she tried Tigger out. One day, shortly before she turned 17, Carley’s Mom drover her out to Tigger’s new home at Horseshoe Club in Fort Worth, TX. The presentation of Tigger to Carley was a complete surprise for Carley. Clare’s friend, Carley Strange was on hand with her video camera, and Clare’s husband Randy Morrow had his digital camera on hand to capture still shots. Clare is now not only Carley’s trainer, but also a very special friend to Carley’s entire family.
