BACH Celebrates the New Year with Good friends, Good Food and Good Riding
The Brazos Association of Classical Horsemanship gathered Saturday, Jan 7th at the home of Don and Marcetta Darensbourg to celebrate year end awards, congratulate a new Board and listen to and watch a wonderful presentation by Andrea Hart about musical freestyles.
Before the lecture, Andrea watched Ansleigh Fettig on her Gypsy Vanner, Dugan, and Jenny Stadler on Marcetta’s Haflinger, Chip, performed parts of their developing freestyles offering tips about which movements to emphasize, which to keep to a minimum and matching the music to the personality of the horse. It made us chuckle when Andrea pointed out that frequently, the horse is doing a good job keeping time to the music while the rider is not. Using music to ride to does not have to result in a freestyle, it can be a fun tool to improve the gaits and transitions.
